Depart USA for Shanghai, China’s largest City.
Meet our tour guide at the arrivals hall after baggage retrieval and then transfer to our luxury accommodations for a good night’s rest.
Start our city tour at the Nanjing Road, ground zero for shoppers and entertainment seekers. Move on to the splendid Yu Garden, then continue on to the famous waterfront Bund, a mile long stretch along the Huangpu River.
After breakfast, we are transferred to the airport for a flight bound to Mt. Huangshan. Upon arrival, we visit the famed Tunxi Ancient Street. For dinner, a local specialty cuisine will be served. Stay overnight at Tunxi, an ancient town located at the foot of Mt. Huangshan.
A cable car ride takes us up to the midway of Mt. Huangshan for a sightseeing tour of the area. Mt. Huangshan is extolled for its “Four Ultimate Beauties” - unusual rock formations, pine trees, sea of clouds and hot springs.
If you desire, you may get up early to enjoy the fantastic view of sunrise amidst a sea of clouds in the summits. Descend the mountain and head to Hongcun, an ancient traditional village with well preserved paved streets, architecture, decorations, and the integration of houses with comprehensive water systems. Later in the afternoon, proceed to Jingdezhen, a 1700-year-old capital of porcelain making industry. Our city orientation tour features a visit to the Porcelain Museum and the ceramic factory.
Arrive in Jiujiang, an ancient city of rice and tea established by the emperor Qin Shi Huang, where we have a brief tour of Xunyanglou. Continue on to Wuhan. Upon arrival, our city tour explores the popular Yellow Crane Tower and the famous Bells Museum. Tonight, enjoy the Fish Dinner Feast.
Depart Wuhan for Yichang, the site where our ship is docked and awaiting us. Upon our arrival at Yichang, the economic and cultural center of the western Hubei Province, we board our Victoria Cruise ship. We set sail in the evening for our exciting Yangtze River adventure. Nearly 4000 miles long, the mighty Yangtze River is the world’s third longest river and flows eastward into the East China Sea.
We sail through the Xiling Gorge. Spend the morning viewing the construction of the Three Gorges Dam. We edge into Wushan and stay on board the ship for the evening.
Depending on the river conditions, our shore excursion is either along the Daning River or Shennong Stream. Board smaller vessels to access this tributary of the Yangtze. Return to the ship and enjoy as the vessel passes through the narrow meandering passages of the Qutang Gorge.
Shore excursion to Fengdu, visiting either the “Ghost City”, known for its statues of ghosts and devils on Mingshan Hill, or the new relocation village, built for families who have moved as a result of the Yangtze’s rising waters brought about by the Three Gorges Dam.
Our Yangtze River Cruise comes to an end with the arrival at Chongqing. Disembark the cruise, a brief city tour takes us to Eling Park and the Zoo for the adorable panda bears. Later, leave for Beijing by air. After we are transferred to the hotel, the rest of the day is free at leisure.
Spend the full day at leisure to explore the city on your own. You may do some last minute shopping or perhaps meet some old friends in the city.
Today, our China adventure has come to an end. Fly back to the US with memories to last a lifetime.
