How to pack for Each Season

Winter weather in Niagara Falls tends to last from November through March. Temperatures are almost always below freezing, so if you're prepared with lots of layers, a heavy coat, hat, scarf and gloves, you're sure to enjoy the incredible ice formations on the trees and the Falls.

From April to May the blooms begin to burst forth from the snow and the temperatures start to rise. Days are usually warm, but cold spells are still possible. It's usually chilly in the evening, so be sure to bring a sweater or jacket. Clouds and rain do occur, but warm, sunny days are just as frequent.

Summers in Niagara last from June through August and are usually warm, sunny and dry, and sometimes quite humid due to the Falls. Also because of the Falls, the temperatures never reach extremes in the summertime, hovering between 15 and 26 degrees C. You may still need that sweater in the evenings, as the mist rising from the water can bring a chill to the air.

From September through October the temperatures begin to cool as the city heads into autumn. September is the wettest month of the year, so bring your umbrella or pick up a poncho.  You can also take part in the Grape and Wine Festival, complete with concerts, parades and wine tasting. And don't forget to stop by again in January to try the ice wine!

Casino Niagara

The Casino Niagara is known as the largest casino in Canada, and it is comparable to some of the major casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Some of the games that you can play in this casino include blackjack, roulette, craps, Caribbean Stud, Pai Gow, Niagara Hold’em Poker and Three-Card Poker.

Rumours Nightclub

The Rumours Nightclub is the most popular nightclub in Niagara Falls. You will certainly be impressed with the club’s energetic crowd, exciting laser show and high-tech video and sound system. The Rumours Nightclub is situated on Clifton Hill, and it is open from 7.00 p.m. to 2.00 a.m. every day of the week.

Nightmares Fear Factory

The Nightmares Fear Factory is the site where the Cataract Coffin Factory was once located. Today, it is one of the most visited haunted houses in the southeastern Canada. 

Getting There 

Arrivals in Niagara Falls are limited to bus and rail service, with the closest airports at Buffalo (Buffalo Niagara International Airport - BUF), Hamilton (John Munro International Airport - YHM) and Toronto (Lester Pearson International Airport - YYZ).

Rail service is provided in Canada twice daily to the Niagara Falls Rail Station on Bridge Street to Toronto (VIA RAIL also stops at St. Catharines, Grimsby, Aldershot (Burlington) and Oakville), New York City (AMTRAK also stops at Niagara Falls NY, Buffalo-Exchange, Buffalo-Dick Road, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, Schenectady, and Albany-Troy.

Bus service is provided by Trentway Wagar (Coach Canada) and Greyhound Lines of Canada.  Some service on Trentway Wagar or Greyhound Lines of Canada may operate with Adirondack Trailways, Capitol Trailways and New York Trailways equipment.  Follow directions of terminal announcements to find your correct bus.  The Niagara Falls Coach Terminal is located at the corner of Bridge Street and Erie, in Downtown Niagara Falls.

Most services operate on the Hamilton/Niagara Falls line run, the Niagara Falls/Toronto line run, and the Niagara Falls/Buffalo line run.  A station agent can tell you about through service or connecting services from other cities.
