  • Climate: The temperature changes little throughout the year in Hawaii. Most of Hawaii has only two seasons – summer, from May to October, and winter, from November to April. Heavy rainfall can occur in some mountainous areas from December to February, but most areas only receive short showers, while others remain totally arid.

Dressing: Lightweights are advised throughout the year, with warmer clothes for winter. Beachwear is popular, and protection from the midday sun, such as sunglasses and sun hats, is advisable.

Time difference: Hawaii has its own time zone, aptly referred to as “Hawaiian Standard Time.” Hawaii does not observe daylight savings time, so the number of hours the islands fall behind the continental U.S. varies. If you're talking to people on the U.S. West Coast during daylight savings time (in the summer), they will be 3 hours ahead and when daylight savings time is not in effect (in the winter), 2 hours ahead. For the U.S. East Coast, the difference is 6 hours and 5 hours respectively.

Language: The official language is English and Hawaiian.

    Flying to Hawaii
Honolulu International Airport (HNL) on Oahu is Hawaii's major international airport for all foreign visitors. Cheap flights to Hawaii are available during the spring and autumn. Flights to Hawaii are served by a number of different airlines including Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines and Air Canada.

    Where to stay
